What does porting mean?

Number port is also referred to as number transfer. This is when a customer wishes to move to a different telephone service provider while retaining their existing number and presence.
Will I experience any downtime in calls while porting takes place?

We have a strong track record of porting numbers successfully with no service downtime. We achieve this by building the number(s) onto our network as soon as a porting request is received. The number is then configured in preperation for the port date, which allows a seamless transfer of service from your existing provider to ourselves.
Will I have to pay my current provider a ‘porting’ out fee?

Number porting is also referred to as number transfer. This is when a customer wishes to move to a different telephone provider while retaining their existing number and presence.
Whats involved in the porting process?

Communications providers (CPs) arrange for their number ranges to be terminated by a network operator (NO). In some cases, a CP is also a NO and can do this for themselves, but usually they are two seperate entities.

When a number is ported, the original provider transfers responsilbility for terminating a phone number to the new one. In order for this to happen, a porting ‘agreement’ must exist between the two. There must also be a ‘number portability transfer path’ between the network operators communications providers.
