In September Core Telecom provided sponsorship to the ‘Mercian Rebels’, who completed the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for injured servicemen and women.
The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the UK’s highest mountains; Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in Cumbria and Snowdon in Wales. All the climbs need to be completed in 72 hours from base of Ben Nevis.
The Mercian Rebels added to this challenge by completing the ‘purer’ version, which involved them cycling between each mountain, a distance of around 400 miles in total.
Core Telecom’s sponsorship centred around their support vehicle, which followed them as they completed the cycling part of the challenge. The van carried everyone’s climbing equipment between the peaks, as well as food and drink supplies.
The team completed the challenge just in time, taking 69 hours 41 minutes which saw them finished at 4:30 am on September 23rd 2012.
As a keen cyclist, Core Telecom’s Managing Director, Paul Turner was keen to get involved: “We were delighted to provide whatever support we could the Rebels in their challenge. Climbing the three peaks, and cycling 400 miles all in just 3 days is a fantastic achievement!”.
This latest sponsorship adds to Core Telecom’s proud tradition of supporting good causes. Recently this has included continued support to Dreams and Wishes, providing a free helpline to the Disabilities Trust and supporting a kick boxing club for young people in Spain.
