Breaking Barriers: How Core Telecom is supporting Mind in the fight for mental health

On World Mental Health Day, we are proud to celebrate our support for the leading mental health charity in the UK called Mind. This organisation is here to fight for mental health across England and Wales. Their helplines, online information and peer support services offer advice to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect.

Good communication is closely linked to mental health. Open dialogue can reduce stress, ease anxiety, and build stronger relationships. Yet, mental health remains a stigmatised topic, making it difficult for people to speak openly about their struggles.

Telecommunications and Mental Health Support
Telecommunication plays a key role in making mental health support accessible. At Core Telecom, we’ve partnered with Mind to help break down barriers to communication for those seeking help.
Mind’s helplines offer mental health support and information to over 100,000 people each year. Core Telecom has donated a free 03 number (0300 102 1234) and removed all incoming call charges for Mind, to ensure their support is accessible to more people.

Impact of Core Telecom’s Support
By eliminating call costs, Core Telecom has had a profound impact. More individuals can now reach out for help, and Mind has been able to direct savings towards essential areas like awareness campaigns and mental health services.

As Stephen Buckley from Mind shares:
“Mind is always looking for ways to help make the money supporters donate go further, and our relationship with Core Telecom has really helped us reduce what we spend on our Support Line telephone bill. This allows us to support more people with mental health problems while lowering our day-to-day costs.”

The Power of Communication
The link between communication and mental health is important. Mind emphasises:
“1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem each year. It’s sometimes easier to say we’re ‘fine’ than share how we really feel. We want everyone to feel comfortable talking about mental health. Open dialogue reduces stigma, increases understanding, and empowers people to seek help.”
At Core Telecom, we believe that accessible telecommunication is essential to positive mental health. Our partnership with Mind reflects our commitment to creating a world where mental health is prioritised, and support is easily available.
