Following Core Telecom’s recent support of Yorkshire Cancer Centre, The Disabilities Trust and Light in Africa, they have extended their charity support by creating a new partnership with a Spanish Kick Boxing Club.
The club exists to take young people who find themselves either on the streets or with few opportunities in life. The success of the club so far has meant that some members have developed their talent so much that they are able to turn professional and earn a living from the sport.
One such fighter is 24 year old Christopher Mena, who with support of the club and Core Telecom is being entered into a fight against the best rated professional kick boxer in Spain.
At the age of 10, Christopher arrived in Spain with his monther and brother looking for a better life. Having originally being born in Colombia, his family left the country after his parents seperated. He has now been training as a kick boxer for 8 years, and is rapidly built a reputation as an extremely talented fighter.
The fight will headline an event being organised by the man behind the kick boxing club, Manuel Postigo, with Core Telecom being listed as a main sponsor.
Upon Core’s substantial donation a delighted Manuel commented: “Myself and everyone connected with club is so grateful for the support shown by Core Telecom. Thanks to their support we will be able to buy brand new equipment, support our most talented fighters and ensure the club continues to change lives of young people”.
Mahmood Mazhar, Cheif Executive of Core Telecom stated: “I’ve been aware of the great work that Manuel and the club does over in Spain and I’m delighted to be in a position to support them.
“At Core we have a proud history of supporting a whole range of charities and community projects, and are passionate about continuing this work in the future”.
