In September we brought you news of how Core Telecom had provided vital sponsorship to The K9 Club, a kick boxing club in Spain.
Through Core’s Chief Executive Mahmood Mazhar, we supplied vital funding both for the club and to a special tournament that was being organised to showcase the talent that is being developed.
The club exists to provide support for young people who find themselves without a solid purpose in life, and to give them something to focus on. At the age of 10, Christopher Mena moved to Spain with his mother from Colombia and has now been training at the club for 8 years.
The showcase tournament was created for Christopher, as he was entered into fight with one of the best rated fighters in Spain. Remarkably Christopher won the fight, and is now looking to earn a place at the European Champions in Glasgow.
Along with funding for Christopher’s fight, Core Telecom’s financial support has also meant the club can purchase brand new equipment, such as gloves and protective gear to ensure they get the best training.
Manuel Postigo who organised the championships commented: “I have only words of thanks for Mr. Mazhar for the support he has shown my club and the trust placed in me.”
Mr Mazhar was delighted with the success of the tournament: “It is fantastic news that we could play an important part in Christopher’s success. I’ve experienced the great work Manuel does and I hope this can continue in the future.”
Core Telecom has a proud history of supporting good causes and fantastic community projects. As well as The K9 Club, recently Core has supported Dreams & Wishes, Light in Africa and Yorkshire Cancer Care.
